Armed Attack in Manisa Turgutlu

National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin stated that the armed attack near a school in Manisa's Turgutlu district should not be characterized as a school attack.

Reminding that the perpetrator took the shotgun from his grandfather's house, Tekin emphasized that the perpetrator had just registered at the school and attended for a short time, stating that peer bullying could not be mentioned.

Families' Responsibility Regarding Weapons and Social Media

It was pointed out that it is of great importance for families who keep licensed weapons in their homes to store these weapons in places inaccessible to children.

Minister Tekin stated that families should keep social media supervision tight, and that children should be closely monitored by parents against risks on gaming platforms.

Physical Security Measures Taken in Schools

Within the scope of school security, it was announced that standard measures such as camera systems, turnstiles, facial recognition systems, hand detectors, and emergency buttons have been taken according to the physical condition of each school.

In addition, it was noted that the appointment system, mobile phone restrictions, school uniforms, teacher gowns, and service tracking systems have been implemented, and the number of official garden personnel has exceeded 23,000.

PISA 2025 Results and Education Indicators

It was stated that Turkey is the only country that increased its scores in the three areas measured in PISA 2025, and it was announced that it ranked among the top 15 among OECD member countries.

It was stated that the continuation rate in secondary education has risen from 51 percent in 2003 to over 90 percent, and the number of students per classroom and per teacher has exceeded international standards.
