Nine Persons Detained in Three-Province Operation Targeting Bomb-Making Posts on Social Media
In simultaneous raids carried out across three provinces based in Çorum, digital materials were seized and the suspects were referred to the courthouse.
In operations centered in Çorum and conducted in Istanbul and Sakarya against 11 suspects identified as organizing by sharing content such as bomb-making and weapon use via social media platforms, 9 individuals were apprehended.
Detection of Organization on Social Media
As a result of the efforts carried out by the Çorum Provincial Gendarmerie Command Anti-Terrorism Branch teams, it was determined that individuals under the age of 18 came together under various ideologies through social media platforms.
Training and Action Content
It was determined that the suspects normalized radical thoughts in virtual environments and shared content on action scenarios, bomb-making, preparing Molotov cocktails, the use of long-barreled weapons, and psychological warfare tactics.
Simultaneous Three-Province Operation
Within the framework of the investigation initiated under the coordination of the Çorum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous raids were organized on addresses covering Istanbul and Sakarya, based in Çorum.
As a result of the operations carried out, 9 of the 11 targeted suspects were apprehended and detained.
Judicial Process and Digital Examination
Digital materials such as computers and mobile phones seized during the operation were confiscated for examination.
The detained suspects were referred to the courthouse after the completion of their procedures at the gendarmerie.
