Spain becomes Europe's strongest in the updated Passport Reports ranking
According to Passport Reports data, Spain has become the strongest passport in Europe, while the Turkish passport ranked with a mobility score of 121 destinations.
The results of the passport rankings updated by Passport Reports as of September 24, 2026, have been announced. According to the research results, Spain claimed the title of Europe's strongest passport with a mobility score of 174 points, while the Turkish passport featured on the list with a score of 121 destinations.
Global Passport Ranking
In the latest passport ranking prepared by Passport Reports, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore took the top two spots, while Spain ranked third globally.
In the research, the strength of passports is measured by the total number of countries citizens can travel to without a visa, as well as destinations they can enter with an electronic travel authorization or visa on arrival.
Spain's Mobility Score
Spain ranks first in Europe and third globally with a mobility score of 174 points.
Spanish passport holders can travel to 121 countries visa-free, 42 countries with a visa on arrival; electronic travel authorization is required for 11 countries, and a prior visa must be obtained to enter 24 countries.
Status of Other European Countries
Luxembourg ranks fifth with 173 points, where passport holders can travel to 122 destinations visa-free and 41 destinations with a visa on arrival.
Belgium and France share the sixth spot with 173 points, while Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Sweden occupy the seventh position.
Turkish Passport's Score
According to Passport Reports data, the Turkish passport has a mobility score of 121 points, trailing Spain's 174-point score by 53 points.
This score is composed of Turkish citizens being able to travel to 71 destinations visa-free, 43 destinations with a visa on arrival, and 7 destinations with an electronic travel authorization, while a prior visa is required for 77 destinations.
Visa Requirements and Differences
While Turkish citizens must obtain a prior visa to travel to countries in the Schengen area, Turkey has visa exemptions with countries in the Balkans, Latin America, Asia, and certain African nations.
Due to differences in the methodologies used in the rankings, significant variations may exist between lists; for example, the Henley Passport Index places Turkey in 46th place.
