Letter Sent for the Safety of the Investigation

A new development occurred in the football betting investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Sports Crimes Investigation Bureau. The prosecutor's office transmitted a letter to the Turkish Football Federation, calling for caution for the security of the judicial process.

Interaction Between Disciplinary Processes and Judicial Investigation

It was emphasized that the disciplinary processes to be carried out by the federation could affect the ongoing judicial investigation. Accordingly, it was requested that coordination be established with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prior to all procedures to be performed and statements to be made to the public.

Warning on the Risk of Concealment of Evidence

It was stated that publicizing potentially suspect individuals before judicial procedures could lead to evidence being concealed, altered, or destroyed. Furthermore, it was expressed that this situation could lay the groundwork for suspects who have not yet been apprehended to flee.

No Notification Made Prior to Referrals

According to information obtained from judicial sources, it was determined that the Turkish Football Federation did not make any notification to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office before referring club administrators to the Professional Football Disciplinary Committee.
