First chick hatches as farmer waits, having delayed field work for dove nesting on his tractor
The first of the dove eggs, which Mardin farmer Osman Ece had been waiting for while delaying his field work, hatched after fifteen days.
In the Artuklu district of Mardin, farmer Osman Ece, who delayed his field-tilling operations for a dove that built a nest on the canopy of his tractor, announced that the first chick has hatched from the egg after a fifteen-day wait.
The Nest Discovered on the Tractor
Farmer Osman Ece, living in the Torbacık Hamlet of the rural Hüyüklü Neighborhood in Mardin's Artuklu district, went to his tractor on September 16 to till his field.
Ece was surprised to notice that a dove had built a nest on the canopy section of his tractor and that there were two eggs in the nest.
Decision to Postpone Field Work
Showing sensitivity to ensure the dove was not disturbed and the nest was not harmed, farmer Osman Ece decided not to start his tractor.
As a result of this sensitive approach, Ece postponed his field work, parked his tractor, and settled in to wait for the eggs to hatch and the chicks to enter the world.
The Result of the Fifteen-Day Wait
After a period of fifteen days, one of the eggs hatched and the first baby dove successfully came into the world.
Eagerly waiting for the other egg to hatch as well, the farmer continues to follow this natural event with excitement.
Sensitivity Continues Until the Chicks Fly Away
Farmer Osman Ece stated that he will definitely not use his tractor until the chicks are fully grown and fly away from the nest.
Ece noted that the chicks are growing slowly and expressed that he is counting down the days together with them for the remaining egg to hatch.
