President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received the A National Women's Volleyball Team at the Presidential Complex after they became European Champions for the second consecutive time at the 2026 CEV Trendyol European Volleyball Championship.
Reception Held at the Complex
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hosted the A National Women's Volleyball Team in his office after they won the gold medal and became European Champions for the second consecutive time at the 2026 CEV Trendyol European Volleyball Championship. Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak and Turkish Volleyball Federation President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ were also present during the reception. Additionally, the A National Men's Volleyball Team took part in this meaningful gathering.
Historic Success and Medals
The A National Women's Volleyball Team had achieved their first championship by defeating Serbia 3-2 in the final of the tournament held in Belgium in 2023. This time, the national team reached the summit in the tournament held in Istanbul, lifting the trophy for the second consecutive time. Raising its total number of medals to 7 with 2 golds, 2 silvers, and 3 bronzes in the history of the tournament, Turkey experienced the joy of winning a medal for the fifth consecutive time.
Turkish Volleyball in 2026
Turkish volleyball experienced a major period of success with extraordinary results achieved at the club and national team levels in 2026. In addition to two Turkish teams facing each other in the Champions League final, the A National Women's Volleyball Team lifted the championship trophy in the Nations League, the Mediterranean Games, and the European Championship.
Future Goals and Tournaments
Turkey earned the right to directly participate in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games from the European continent. Meanwhile, VakıfBank and Eczacıbaşı teams will compete to represent Turkey in the World Club Championship to be held from December 8 to 13.
