Selim Sırrı Tarcan Sports and Life Complex Opened in Bağcılar
The 1 billion lira sports complex, implemented by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in Bağcılar, has been opened for public use.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has inaugurated the Selim Sırrı Tarcan Sports and Life Complex, built at the intersection of Bağcılar, Güngören, and Esenler, with a ceremony.
Regional Sports Investment
At the opening ceremony attended by IMM Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan, the strategic importance of the facility, completed with an investment of 1 billion liras, was emphasized for the region. Located at the junction of three districts, the complex aims to serve a large population.
Technical Specifications of the Facility
The complex includes modern sports areas such as a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a training pool, tennis courts, and padel courts. The facility will be operated by the IMM Department of Youth and Sports Services.
Planned with a capacity to serve 45,000 people with 600,000 sessions annually, the center will operate in various branches such as fitness and group classes.
Contribution to Professional Sports
The facility is planned to host not only individual use but also professional sports organizations. It is anticipated that official competitions of the Turkish Swimming Federation will be held here and that it will be used as a training center for the 2027 European Games preparations.
Istanbul's Sports Infrastructure
With the newly opened center, the number of IMM sports facilities across Istanbul has risen to 77, and the total number of swimming pools to 29. The municipality continues its efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure throughout the city.
