The Turkish Men's National Volleyball Team suffered their second defeat in the group, losing 3-1 to the host country Romania in their fourth match of Pool D at the 2026 CEV European Championship.
Start of the Match and the First Set
The first set of the match began with a 6-4 lead for the host team, and Turkey called an early timeout due to difficulties encountered in reception.
Although the crescent-and-stars recovered after the timeout and tried to close the gap, Romania, backed by the support of the crowd, won the first set 25-19.
Romania's Superiority in the Second Set
In the second set, which started with mutual points, Romania widened the gap with a scoring run to bring the score to 12-7.
Although Turkey brought the score to 16-14 with their moves, the host team, being more effective in the final section of the set, made it 2-0 with 25-21.
Victory in the Third Set
While the beginning of the third set was balanced, an 8-8 tie was achieved on the scoreboard, and Turkey took the lead by establishing superiority in spikes.
Extending the lead up to 7 points, the crescent-and-stars managed to bring the score in the match to 2-1 by winning the set 25-20.
Fourth Set and Match Result
In the fourth set, a 10-10 tie was reached with mutual points, and Romania found consecutive points during Rata's service turn.
Protecting their advantage in the remaining time, the host team won the set 25-18 and the match 3-1.
Squad Status and Next Match
The national team's opposite hitter Adis Lagumdzija could not play in this match due to an injury.
The nationals, who will play their last match in the group against Latvia, will take to the court for qualification.
