Following the events after the Olympique Lyon match, the yellow-navy club and its players have come under scrutiny.
Fenerbahçe announced that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated by UEFA against Mattéo Guendouzi, Mason Greenwood, and the club following the events that occurred after the UEFA Champions League second leg match against Olympique Lyon.
Disciplinary Proceedings Initiated
In a statement, the Fenerbahçe club reported that UEFA disciplinary proceedings had been launched regarding its players Mattéo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood, as well as the club itself, following the Champions League second leg match.
The yellow-navy management stated that necessary steps would be taken during the legal process to defend the rights and interests of the club and the players.
Events After the Match
Tensions and mutual exchanges occurred on the pitch immediately after the final whistle of the match in which Fenerbahçe defeated Olympique Lyon 2-1 to advance to the Champions League.
Allegations Regarding Guendouzi
Matteo Guendouzi stated that he was physically assaulted by a Lyon staff member in the corridor leading to the dressing rooms.
The player also expressed that insults had been directed at him and his family throughout the match, and that no intervention had come from officials.
