Volume and Sectoral Distribution of Turkey's Sports Economy Announced
According to the report prepared in collaboration with Deloitte Turkey andTMOK, the annual spending volume of Turkey's sports economy is approximately 181 billion TL.
The Turkey Sports Economy and Sector Report, prepared in partnership with Deloitte Turkey and the Turkish National Olympic Committee, revealed the financial size and detailed sectoral distribution of the sports ecosystem in the country.
Total Spending Volume and Investments
According to the report prepared in cooperation with Deloitte Turkey and the Turkish National Olympic Committee, the estimated total annual spending volume of the sports ecosystem in Turkey reaches approximately 181 billion TL.
Estimated annual expenditures within the scope of professional and amateur sports, national institutions, national teams, school and university sports, Paralympic sports, and e-sports are at approximately 81 billion TL.
Share of Public Investments
Sports investments amounting to approximately 100 billion TL carried out by central and local governments are included in the total annual spending volume, shaping the size of the market.
Economic Distribution by Branch
While football accounts for approximately 75 percent of the professional club and athlete economy, which stands at a size of roughly 52 billion TL, this rate corresponds to approximately 39 billion TL.
The estimated size of the basketball economy is calculated at approximately 7.3 billion TL, while the estimated size of the professional volleyball economy is at around 4.6 billion TL.
The Impact of Women's Volleyball
Women's leagues account for approximately 60 percent of the professional volleyball economy, reaching an economic size of about 2.8 billion TL.
Amateur Sports and School Sports
While the estimated size of the amateur sports ecosystem is recorded as approximately 10 billion TL, the number of students participating in school sports in the 2024–2025 academic term reached approximately 1.3 million.
Volume of Sports Tourism
The estimated size of sports tourism ranges between 45 and 55 billion TL, with approximately 50 to 60 percent of this revenue being generated from international visitors.
