US President Donald Trump's attempt to refer to artificial intelligence as super intelligence has unexpectedly increased interest in Slovenia's internet extension.
Following US President Donald Trump's shift of the concept of artificial intelligence to super intelligence, a noticeable increase was seen in requests for .si, Slovenia's internet domain extension.
Super Intelligence Statement and Its Effects
In his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, US President Donald Trump stated that the phrase artificial intelligence creates a false impression and announced that this phrase would be changed. He stated that the US would begin using the much more accurate term super intelligence and its abbreviation SI in official documents.
Activity in Slovenian Domain Registrations
Slovenia's official internet domain extension, .si, can be requested by both local users and foreigners. Register.si spokesperson Klara Herman stated that immediately after the speech, there was a strong increase in requests for domain names with the .si extension.
Rise in Daily Registration Numbers
While the agency carried out an average of around 3,500 new domain name registrations per day throughout August, this number reached a daily average of 3,700 following the speech. With this latest surge in demand, the total number of registrations exceeded 220,000.
