Excitement of the Finals Begins at the TEKNOFEST 2026 Hyperloop Competition
Finalists are exhibiting their projects at the Gebze Campus in the Hyperloop Development Competition organized under the auspices of TÜBİTAK and the T3 Foundation.
In the Hyperloop Development Competition held within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2026, 24 teams that reached the finals in three different categories are competing to test their projects in a special 208-meter tunnel established at the TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus.
Transportation Technology of the Future
Operating in reduced air pressure tunnels, Hyperloop systems reach high speeds without touching the rails thanks to electromagnets and magnetic levitation technology.
Young researchers are developing academic and engineering solutions for this technology, which is highlighted among eco-friendly and fast new-generation public transportation systems.
Competition Categories and Applications
The event, attended by associate, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, is being held in three separate categories this year.
Out of hundreds of applications, a total of 24 teams succeeded in reaching the finals in the Performance, Technology Demonstration, and Defined Problem Solution categories.
Tunnel Tests and Evaluation
The finalist teams have the opportunity to test their systems in front of the jury within a 208-meter-long steel tunnel and field setups.
While speed, position, propulsion, and braking systems undergo detailed tests inside the tunnel, projects in some categories are evaluated through presentations.
Award Process and Final Date
While successful teams will be awarded monetary prizes according to their categories, special board awards will also be presented for innovative approaches.
The final process, where future transportation systems compete, will continue at the TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus until September 6.
