Technology giant Google has allocated billions of euros in funding to expand artificial intelligence capacity and clean energy projects in the country.
Google, under the Alphabet umbrella, has announced that it will spend more than $15 billion and at least €13 billion to strengthen its artificial intelligence infrastructure in Finland. This move ranks among the company's largest steps to increase its overseas infrastructure capacity.
Scope and Details of the Investment
Google's massive investment in Finland directly encompasses partnerships in the municipalities of Hamina, Kajaani, Muhos, and Vaala. In this context, plans are underway to establish new data centers and expand the existing infrastructure.
Artificial Intelligence and Clean Energy Projects
The planned expenditures will not be limited solely to data centers, but will also support clean energy projects. This developed infrastructure will likewise back services like Google's Gemini artificial intelligence chatbot with the power behind it.
Construction Timeline and Economic Impacts
The construction phase of the investment in question is projected to take place between 2027 and 2028. The project is expected to increase Finland's GDP by €3.6 billion annually and provide employment for tens of thousands of people.
