According to estimation data shared by Sensor Tower, Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders experienced a remarkable surge after the 26-minute video released by Rockstar, with demand reaching millions of copies.

Pre-order Increase After the Video

According to data provided by analysis firm Sensor Tower, Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders surged by 436 percent on August 27, the day the video was released, compared to the previous day.

This strong momentum continued on August 28, with the total increase over the two-day period reaching 572 percent based on the previous thirty-day average.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Sales Distribution

The vast majority of pre-order demands came from the PlayStation 5 platform, with PS5 pre-orders alone recording a 606 percent increase on August 27.

On the same date, pre-orders for Xbox Series X and S consoles saw an increase of 127 percent.

Marketing Strategy and Platform Preference

Sensor Tower stated that it has been tracking reservations since June and that the PS5 platform has consistently outperformed Xbox.

The primary reason for this situation is cited as Rockstar's marketing campaigns promoting that the best GTA VI experience will be had on PlayStation 5.

Total Volume and Edition Preferences

While the game reached a total of 4.86 million pre-orders worldwide, this figure corresponds to an economic value of approximately $476 million, with PlayStation users accounting for 77 percent of this amount.

Additionally, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had emphasized in a previous statement that the $100 Ultimate Edition version was preferred more than the $80 standard version.
