Türkiye's first spacecraft to be used in Moon mission introduced
Produced with a local production rate of over 80 percent and designed to conduct scientific research in lunar orbit, the first Turkish spacecraft has been introduced to the press.
Developed within the scope of Türkiye's first Moon mission, the Lunar Spacecraft, which boasts a domestic production rate of over 80 percent, has been introduced to the public for the first time. Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced that the satellite has been sent to the TAI USET center for testing.

Türkiye has introduced to journalists for the first time a special spacecraft that will conduct scientific research around the Moon for months.
Domestic Production Rate Exceeded 80 Percent
Produced with 80 percent domestic materials and engineering, the spacecraft represents a new milestone in Türkiye's space studies.
Scientific Research and Orbit Details
Weighing approximately 3.5 tons, the vehicle will operate in a polar and circular mission orbit at an altitude of 100 kilometers from the lunar surface for at least 3 months, and this duration can be extended up to 1.5 years.
Sent to TAI USET Center
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced that the spacecraft, whose production, assembly, and integration activities have been completed, has been sent off to the USET center within TAI for system-level environmental tests.
Targeted Date for Launch
Equipped with a special propulsion system, the satellite is planned to be sent into space from the Kennedy Space Center in the USA in the early months of 2027.
Historical Goals and Mission End
After completing its mission, the satellite will be controlledly crashed onto the lunar surface. With this mission, Türkiye aims to become the 9th country and the first Muslim country to reach the Moon.
