France Summit and Strategic Partnership
General Secretary and President To Lam will pay an official visit to the French Republic to attend the Space Summit to be held in Paris from September 7 to 12, 2026. These critical engagements are expected to give significant momentum to the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which holds great potential in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
Success of the VNREDSat-1 Program
Professor Dr. Tran Hong Thai, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, evaluated the results of scientific and technological cooperation conducted with France. It was emphasized that the tangible successes achieved from the VNREDSat-1 program form a solid foundation for future space technology cooperation projects.
Next-Generation Satellite and Technology Transfer
It was stated that the main objective of the cooperation between the two countries is to develop next-generation satellite systems. In addition, the goals include strengthening expert training, ensuring technology transfer, and gradually increasing Vietnam's technological capacity.
Historic Achievement and Long-Term Use
Vietnam's first Earth observation satellite, VNREDSat-1, was successfully launched on May 7, 2013, and delivered to Vietnam in September 2013. Although its initial design life was only five years, as of 2026, the satellite is celebrating its 14th year of operation and continues to provide data.
