Included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and reopened to visitors after the most comprehensive restoration lasting 9 years, the 798-year-old Divriği Great Mosque and Hospital experienced a high density of visitors in the first nine months of the year.

High Interest Post-Restoration

The historical structure reopened for worship and visits on May 6, 2024, following a nine-year restoration process that was the most comprehensive in its history.

According to the data from the Regional Directorate of Foundations, this significant monument on the UNESCO World Heritage List hosted around 400 thousand visitors as of September 28.

Increase in the Number of Visitors

Divriği Great Mosque Imam Hatip and voluntary guide Nail Ayan stated that the restoration of the monument was carried out by the General Directorate of Foundations.

Ayan expressed that the number of visitors has increased exponentially following the restoration, reaching 220 thousand people in 2025 and hitting 400 thousand this year.

Year-End Targets

Authorities and officials expect the intense interest shown in the historical structure to continue increasing until the end of the year.

Guide Nail Ayan noted that they hope the total number of visitors to reach 500 thousand by the end of the year.

Visitor Impressions

Coming from Ankara to see the monument, Nilüfer Söğütlü voiced that she was very curious about the structure and had wanted to visit it for a long time.

Söğütlü emphasized that she was deeply impressed by the unique stone carvings on the exterior facade as well as the simplicity of the interior.
