Musician and author Zülfü Livaneli, in his statement on the occasion of September 1 World Peace Day, emphasized that culture and art must serve peace.

Stating that there cannot be an understanding of art that provokes war, Livaneli expressed that art, along with all its branches, must remind us of feelings of peace and human values.

Call for Concrete Steps to the Government and Demirtaş

Expressing that artists and intellectuals should feel a sense of responsibility in this process, Livaneli stated that steps must be taken to give confidence to society.

Livaneli said that the long-term imprisonment of Selahattin Demirtaş, a political leader who has advocated for peace, creates a contradiction and that he should be released.

Negotiation Process and Öcalan's Call

Stating that he found the call made by Abdullah Öcalan to be encouraging, Livaneli argued that the resolution of the issue passes through negotiation, as in past examples like the IRA and ETA.

The author added that it is gratifying for peace to replace violence and weapons.
