Strengthening El Nino Event Triggers Global Temperature Rise
The severe El Nino event, increasing its impact worldwide, is multiplying the effects of climate change and leading to unprecedented temperatures expected to last until February 2027.
Weather experts around the world and the World Meteorological Organization, affiliated with the United Nations, have issued warnings regarding a situation that has reached an unprecedented scale and is recorded as one of the strongest El Nino events.
Global Temperature Increases
With the Pacific Ocean releasing large amounts of trapped heat, a vast area of the planet is facing unusually hot conditions.
Meteorologist Ryan Maue stated that global maps are almost entirely covered in red, indicating that warming has peaked everywhere on the planet.
Record-Level Anomalies
Climate scientist Zeke Hausfather reported that anomalies in the Nino3.4 region have exceeded normals by 3.4 degrees, surpassing all previous events on record.
Weather expert Leon Simons described this natural event as a 'super-duper El Nino', while the WMO expects sea surface temperatures to break records in the coming months.
To Last Until February 2027
The World Meteorological Organization and experts state that this natural event, which increases the impacts of human-induced climate change, is expected to continue until February 2027.
Death Toll Predictions
Researchers at the Climate Impact Lab at the University of Chicago projected that this strong El Nino period could result in hundreds of thousands of additional deaths globally from June to February.
