SpaceX announced that it has signed a binding financing agreement of approximately $40 billion with Apollo Global Management for the procurement of artificial intelligence chips and data center equipment. According to the company's filing with regulatory authorities, an entity managed by Apollo will purchase Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin chips and related server hardware, leasing them to SpaceX.

Under the agreement, leasing periods lasting approximately five to five-and-a-half quarters will begin upon the delivery of the equipment. SpaceX aims to complete the transaction by the end of the year and put the leasing processes into operation in the first half of 2027. This financing model aims to support the company's artificial intelligence growth plans by reducing its dependence on traditional debt markets.

SpaceX CFO Bret Johnsen stated that this leasing method diversifies its financing sources. Johnsen noted that they have observed return periods of less than a year on artificial intelligence infrastructure investments scaled to support Grok and cloud services. Apollo, on the other hand, emphasized that this financing will help SpaceX increase its terrestrial computing capacity.
