A large-scale donation made by a university alumnus and his spouse has enabled the launch of a new academic college in the field of artificial intelligence.
The University of North Texas announced the establishment of the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha College of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics thanks to a $20 million donation from an alumnus and his wife.
Details of the Donation and Supporters
The University of North Texas received a significant donation to advance the institution.
Vikas Sinha, a 2023 Ph.D. graduate of the university and Vice President of the Broadcom Mainframe Software Division, alongside his wife Anuradha Sinha, provided a $20 million contribution.
Scope of the New College
With this financial support, the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha College of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics has been officially established.
This new college will support research and educational centers focusing on intelligent systems, data analytics, cybersecurity, health informatics, and learning technologies.
Academic Structure and Departments
Various academic departments and institutes are housed within the newly established college.
The college hosts two separate academic departments: Applied Intelligence and Informatics, and Information and Learning Practices.
Institute and Research Activities
The new structure also incorporates a dedicated institute to ensure more effective execution of academic studies.
In this context, the Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Science has started operating to strengthen the college's research infrastructure.
Endowed Funds and Scholarship Opportunities
Within the scope of the donation, six different endowed funds were created within the university.
These funds will be utilized to support student scholarships, academic chairs, faculty leadership, entrepreneurship, and research on emerging technologies.
Past Support and Strategic Plan
The Sinha family had previously made various contributions to the university.
The couple had funded the Department of Data Science in 2024 and the Sinha Data Science Innovation Lab in 2025. This initiative also aligns with the university's Look North: UNT 2030 strategic plan.
