16th International Kocaeli Book Fair Opens Its Doors to Book Lovers
Turkey's largest book fair started with the theme of novels and memoirs, with the participation of 515 publishing houses, and will host thousands of events.
Turkey's largest book fair, the 16th International Kocaeli Book Fair, opened its doors with the theme "In the Footsteps of Novels and Memoirs." Hundreds of publishing houses and over a thousand events are meeting with book lovers within the scope of the fair.
Fair Theme and Participant Information
The International Kocaeli Book Fair, Turkey's largest book fair, has opened its doors to visitors for the sixteenth time. Organized this year with the theme "In the Footsteps of Novels and Memoirs," the organization features 515 publishing houses.
Guest of Honor and Number of Events
With Prof. Dr. Ahmed Güner Sayar serving as the guest of honor, the fair hosts numerous authors from Turkey and different countries around the world. A total of 1,065 events and talks will be held throughout the organization.
Tradition of Books on Trees
In the event that has become a tradition in Kocaeli, citizens commuting to work and school encountered thousands of books hung on tree branches. The mayor also participated in this colorful event on İzmit Cumhuriyet Boulevard.
Culture and Art Meeting
At the opening program held at the Kocaeli Congress Center with the theme "Man Remembers," literature, music, cinema, and visual expression met on the same stage. The fair is hosting many important names.
Notable Authors and Special Events
Many local and foreign authors such as Erhan Afyoncu, Kemal Sayar, Şermin Yaşar, Roger Crowley, and John Perkins are taking part in the fair. Additionally, a special panel and documentary screening will be held on the anniversary of the October 7 Gaza attacks.
