Visitor and Revenue Record Broken in Museums and Archaeological Sites
Places affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism achieved great success in 2025, hosting over 34 million people and generating billions of liras in revenue.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that museums and archaeological sites affiliated with the Ministry hosted 34 million 836 thousand visitors in 2025, and total revenue reached 7 billion 306 million liras.
Details of Visitor and Revenue Increase
Museums and archaeological sites across Turkey achieved significant success in both visitor numbers and revenue generated in 2025.
Compared to the previous year, the number of visitors increased by approximately 7 percent, while the rise in revenue was much more pronounced.
Visitor Comparison by Years
The number of visitors, which was 32 million 547 thousand 756 in 2024, increased by 2 million 288 thousand 251 people in the 2025 period, reaching 34 million 836 thousand 7.
Rise in Revenue Figures
The total revenue, which was 5 billion 438 million 244 thousand 80 liras in 2024, recorded an increase of approximately 1 billion 867 million liras in 2025.
The annual total revenue generated by museums and archaeological sites increased by approximately 34.3 percent, exceeding 7.3 billion liras.
Most Visited Archaeological Sites
İzmir Ephesus Archaeological Site was visited by 2 million 552 thousand 734 people in 2025, becoming the most popular spot of the year.
Ephesus was followed by Denizli Hierapolis Pamukkale Archaeological Site, which hosted 2 million 302 thousand 218 visitors.
Visitor Distribution of Cultural Assets
Nevşehir Göreme Archaeological Site hosted 1 million 187 thousand 185 visitors, and Paşabağlar Archaeological Site hosted 1 million 143 thousand 434 visitors.
Galata Tower was visited by 953 thousand 537 people, ranking among the cultural assets that attracted intense interest.
Other Museums and Underground Cities
Kaymaklı Underground City hosted 688 thousand 459 visitors, Derinkuyu Underground City hosted 548 thousand 687 visitors, and Istanbul Archaeology Museums hosted 534 thousand 602 visitors.
Troia Archaeological Site was visited by 360 thousand 209 people, and Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology by 312 thousand 951 people.
