186.5 Million Liras in Fines Issued During August Food Inspections
During inspections conducted nationwide by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in August, businesses that failed to comply with the rules were slapped with millions of liras in fines.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that 100,128 food inspections were carried out nationwide throughout August, and a total of 186.5 million liras in administrative fines were imposed on businesses where non-compliance was detected.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı shared comprehensive data regarding the food inspections conducted in August via his social media account. The statement emphasized that inspections are being continued uninterrupted in order to guarantee citizens' access to safe food.
Over One Hundred Thousand Inspections Carried Out
A total of 100,128 inspection activities were carried out by Ministry teams targeting food businesses across the country between August 1 and 31. During these inspections, meticulous examinations were made as to whether food safety legislation was complied with.
Millions of Liras in Administrative Fines
As a result of the inspections, a total of 186.5 million liras in administrative fines were levied against food businesses determined to have acted contrary to the legislation and where non-compliance was detected. It was stated that the rights of honest tradesmen would be protected and that those engaging in fraud would not be tolerated.
Criminal Complaints Filed with the Prosecutor's Office
The inspections carried out were not limited to administrative fines alone; criminal complaints were filed with the relevant authorities regarding 49 businesses that seriously violated the rules.
