The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey decided in its latest meeting to keep the one-week repo auction interest rate steady at the 37 percent level.

Interest Rates Remained Steady

In its sixth Monetary Policy Committee decision of the year, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey kept the policy rate, which is the one-week repo auction interest rate, steady at 37 percent.

In the same meeting, the Committee kept the overnight lending interest rate steady at 40 percent and the overnight borrowing interest rate steady at 35.5 percent.

Inflation Trend and Domestic Demand

The published decision text stated that, despite fluctuations on a monthly basis, recent inflation realizations and leading indicators point to a decline in the underlying trend of inflation.

It was emphasized that data regarding economic activity and the limited reflection of supply shocks on domestic prices confirm the weak course in domestic demand.

Energy Risks and Tight Stance

It was noted that energy prices, which remain at high levels as a result of geopolitical developments, pose upside risks to the inflation outlook.

It was stated that the tight monetary policy stance will be resolutely maintained until price stability is fully achieved, and that policy will be tightened in the event of potential deteriorations.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule

It was announced to the public that the next meeting of the Central Bank Monetary Policy Committee will be held on October 22, 2026.
