Industrial production declined annually and monthly in July

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, annual industrial production recorded a 0.3 percent decrease in July. On a monthly basis, production experienced a 1 percent decline, with the sharpest annual drop observed in high-tech products.

Production decline in July

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, while annual industrial production decreased by 0.3 percent in July, the monthly decline reached the 1 percent level. On an annual basis, the steepest decline was observed in high-tech products at 8.5 percent.

This decline was followed by electricity, gas, steam at 5.6 percent, mining and quarrying at 3.8 percent, capital goods at 2.6 percent, and energy production at 1.6 percent.

Manufacturing and sub-sectors

The manufacturing industry and non-durable consumer goods production showed a limited increase of 0.3 percent. Medium-low technology increased by 1.7 percent, low technology by 1.1 percent, intermediate goods by 1.2 percent, and durable consumer goods production by 0.9 percent.

In the food sector, which is the most debated in terms of inflation, the annual increase remained at the level of 1.6 percent.

Performance in sub-branches

While coal production under mining increased by 35.8 percent, metal ore mining decreased by 32.6 percent. The production of wearing apparel decreased by 8.4 percent, while the manufacture of textile products increased by 4.5 percent.

Over the past year, a 9.5 percent increase in furniture production and a 5.6 percent production loss in the electricity, gas, and steam sector drew attention.

Monthly changes and trends

In July, on a monthly basis, production declined in all other sectors except for the 3.3 percent increase in durable goods and the 0.8 percent increase in medium-low technology. The decline in high technology was 5.8 percent.

According to the 12-month moving averages of industrial production, no significant change was seen in the main trend, and production followed a horizontal course.
