The lifting of the fishing ban in the seas and large boats heading out to sea created activity at fish stalls. Tradesmen engaged in fishing at the Katlı Pazar in Sakarya's Adapazarı district stated that there is an abundance of bonito this season and shared the current prices.

With the end of the fishing ban in the seas, large boats headed out to sea and returned to the coast with an abundance of fish. It was reported that rod and reel fishermen started fishing as of August 15 and that there is a significant abundance of bonito this year.

Price Situation at the Stalls

Ramazan İbiş, a fishmonger at the Katlı Pazar in Sakarya's Adapazarı district, stated that bonito prices range between 100 and 125 lira. It was noted that the price of anchovies, which was 350 lira the previous day, dropped to 250 lira with the catch from large boats.

Expectations for the Coming Days

Fishermen expressed that they are quite hopeful about bonito this season. It is anticipated that towards mid-September, bonito will grow and reach around one kilo, and if prices remain at this level, citizens will be able to consume plenty of fish.
