The US military continues to strike new targets inside Iran following attempted attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and American troops in the region.
Regional Military Activity
Amid re-escalating clashes in the region following a one-month period of military inactivity, the US military announced that it has begun striking new targets in Iran.
Central Command Statement
In a statement on Tuesday, the US Central Command stated that these operations came immediately following recent attempted attacks by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps against commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and US troops.
Mutual Strikes and Precautions
While the US military reported on Sunday that rocket launchers on Larak Island were struck, Iran had fired missiles at US bases in Jordan, though these missiles were intercepted in mid-air. Meanwhile, the UAE announced that it had intercepted an Iranian UAV over its waters.
Following these developments, President Donald Trump stated in an assessment on Monday that further strikes might be necessary.
