Fortune 500 Europe List Announced: 11 Companies from Turkey Included

The Fortune 500 Europe list, determining Europe's largest companies, has been published. While Volkswagen maintained its top spot, 11 companies from Turkey found a place on the list.

The Fortune 500 Europe list, prepared based on annual revenues, has been announced to the public. In the ranking featuring giants from twenty-seven countries and twenty-one sectors, Volkswagen did not give up the top spot to anyone, while 11 Turkey-based companies also made an appearance on the list.

General Overview of the List

In the list prepared by Fortune, companies were ranked based on their annual revenues. The total revenue of the list, which includes companies from 23 countries and 21 different sectors, increased by 4 percent compared to last year, rising to $15.5 trillion.

While this giant figure corresponds to approximately half of the European economy, the total number of employees in the companies on the list was recorded as 34.6 million. Total profit exceeded $1 trillion with a 3 percent increase.

Companies at the Top

Volkswagen took the first place on the Fortune 500 Europe list with a revenue of $363.1 billion. Thus, the German automotive giant maintained the title of Europe's largest company for the third consecutive time.

Shell was in the second place of the list with a revenue of $273.7 billion, while Glencore ranked third with a revenue of $247.5 billion. HSBC became the company announcing the highest profit on the list with a profit of $22 billion.

Companies Participating from Turkey

A total of 11 Turkey-based companies took part in the Fortune 500 Europe list. The total revenue of these companies was calculated as $285.4 billion.

In addition, it was announced that a total of 516,100 people are employed in the companies entering the list from Turkey, and their economic sizes drew attention.
