Tender for Istanbul Northern Railway Project to be Held on October 14
$6.75 billion in external financing has been secured and the tender date has been finalized for the line that will connect Marmaray and airports.
The infrastructure and superstructure tender for the Northern Railway Project, which will strengthen Istanbul's transportation network by passing through the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, will be held on Wednesday, October 14.
Tender Date and Scope
The tender for the design and construction of the infrastructure and superstructure works of the Istanbul Northern Railway Crossing Project will be held on Wednesday, October 14.
Broad Route Network
The project will start from the Çayırova section of the Marmaray line and connect to Çatalca via Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, and Istanbul Airport. The line will also be integrated with the Halkalı-Çerkezköy High-Speed Train Line.
New Connections in Transportation
Istanbul Airport and Sabiha Gökçen Airport will be directly connected by rail for the first time, and Marmaray crossings will be relieved as the line operates 24/7 transportation.
Technical Details and Structures
Within the scope of the tender, a 122.3-kilometer double main line, 4.7-kilometer single-line connections, 36.2 kilometers of 5 double-tube tunnels, 22.1 kilometers of two viaducts, and 40 bridges will be constructed.
International Financing
A financing agreement totaling $6.75 billion has been reached with 6 international financial institutions for the project, making this initiative Turkey's largest externally financed railway project.
Annual Passenger and Freight Capacity
With the completion of the line, 33 million passengers and 30 million tons of freight will be transported annually, significantly increasing the railway capacity between Asia and Europe.
