Foreign Ministry Reacts Strongly to Claims Regarding Turkish Armed Forces in European Parliament

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the proposal to allocate funds from the budget for the construction of a monument containing unfounded claims against the Turkish Armed Forces by the Greek Cypriot Administration in the European Parliament, calling on EU institutions not to become instruments of Greek Cypriot propaganda.

In the official statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was clearly stated that the claims put forward by the Greek Cypriot side completely distort historical facts and politicize them.
Recommendation Decision in Budget Discussion
It was learned that the opinion of the European Parliament's Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality regarding the 2027 European Union budget recommended allocating resources to the monument planned to be built by the Greek Cypriot administration.
Importance of the Cyprus Peace Operation Emphasized
It was stated that the Turkish Armed Forces prevented the destruction of the Turkish Cypriot people with the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation and brought peace to the entire Island for more than half a century.
Call for Impartiality to EU Institutions
It was stated that the deviation of European Union institutions from the principles of impartiality and justice undermines trust between societies, and it was emphasized that the EU should not become an instrument of Greek Cypriot propaganda.
