In police raids carried out within the framework of a judicial investigation targeting the Kaos GL Association operating in Turkey, more than 10 activists were detained and searches were conducted at the association's office.

Police Raid on the Board of Directors

A police operation was carried out targeting the members of the board of directors and auditing board of the Kaos GL Association, including substitute members.

While more than 10 LGBTI+ activists were detained during the raids, police teams also conducted search activities at the association's office.

Grounds and Basis of the Investigation

In the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau of Informatics Crimes, the digital posts of the association were cited as the reason.

It was announced that with the decision of the Ankara 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace, the content on the websites was evaluated within the scope of the crime of obscenity.

Decision to Examine Digital Materials

In accordance with the judgeship decision, approval was granted for the seizure of materials carrying the quality of evidence within the scope of the investigation.

It was planned to conduct criminal examinations on computers, mobile phones, and other portable memory devices.

Access Block on Numerous Institutions and Accounts

With the decision of the Istanbul 7th Criminal Judgeship of Peace, access blocks were imposed on the internet websites of many LGBTI+ associations.

Alongside Kaos GL, the web pages of institutions such as the 17 May Association, ÜniKuir, Pink Life, and SPoD were blocked from access.
