Compensation process begins in harassment case against Nilsu Çağla Hepsev

Actress and model Nilsu Çağla Hepsev has filed a 50,000 lira non-pecuniary damages lawsuit against 67-year-old Coşkun Halil H., who sent her sexually explicit messages and videos via social media. The process regarding the individual, who was previously sentenced to a judicial fine in a criminal case, has been moved to the civil court.

Harassment process and criminal case

Nilsu Çağla Hepsev filed a criminal complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office at the end of 2024 due to sexually explicit messages received via social media. As a result of the trial, the Istanbul 53rd Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced Coşkun Halil H. to a judicial fine of 8,400 lira for the crime of sexual harassment and deferred the announcement of the verdict.

Grounds for the compensation lawsuit

Following the criminal case, Hepsev applied to the Istanbul Civil Court of First Instance and filed a 50,000 lira non-pecuniary damages lawsuit. In the petition, it was emphasized that with the disclosure of the individual's identity and address information, the actress experienced serious security concerns and a fear of being followed in her daily life.

In the petition submitted by her lawyers, the moral damage caused by the defendant's actions on the client was underlined. It was stated that the compensation claim was made to create a deterrent effect in addition to the judicial fine imposed and to remedy the grievance experienced.
