Radio and Television Supreme Council President Mehmet Daniş stated that international social media companies are not approaching national licensing, announcing that new regulations in the digital sphere will come to the agenda in Turkey and the world.
Licensing and Counterpart Problem
Radio and Television Supreme Council President Mehmet Daniş stated that the main issue regarding international social media companies is national licensing. He expressed that the lack of licensing poses a significant problem in terms of having a counterpart and combating disinformation.
Emphasis on Combating Disinformation
Daniş emphasized that when a video streaming platform does not have a license in the country, effective action cannot be taken against disinformation. He argued that no counterpart could be found against international platforms.
Shift in Advertising Revenues
Stating that there is a significant transformation in the distribution of advertising revenues in the media sector, Daniş said that advertisements are directed towards digital channels. He noted that the share of television and radio in advertisements remained below 15 percent.
Broad Institutional Agenda
