Traveling Cinema project meets children across all 81 provinces of Turkey
Implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Traveling Cinema project has provided millions of children across the country with the joy of cinema over an eight-year period.
Launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2018 for children with no access to cinema, the Traveling Cinema for Children project has reached all 81 provinces of Turkey.
Scope and Purpose of the Project
Carried out by the General Directorate of Cinema under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the project was implemented with the aim of introducing children who have no opportunity to access the silver screen to cinema.
Traveling city by city, district by district across Turkey, specially designed cinema trucks reach children in settlements that lack movie theaters.
Figures Reached
Conducted in cooperation with the Art for Art's Sake Culture and Arts Association and Türk Telekom, the initiative has left behind an important milestone in its eight-year journey.
Within the scope of the project, more than one and a half million children in 681 districts have been introduced to the excitement of cinema free of charge to date.
Statement by Minister Ersoy
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy shared the milestone reached by the project with the public via his social media account.
Minister Ersoy stated that thanks to the initiative launched in 2018, all 81 provinces of Turkey have been reached and millions of children have been given a cinema experience.
Capacity Increase and Expanding Activities
As a result of the intense interest shown in the project, the access capacity of the Traveling Cinema was increased during 2025.
With the support of Türk Telekom, the number of cinema trucks was increased to two and the screening schedule was given a broader plan.
Screenings in Various Institutions
In addition to routine screenings for children, the Traveling Cinema trucks also organize open-air events during the summer months.
As part of these activities, special film screenings are also held in penal institutions, hospitals, and various social service organizations.
