People's Party Assembly Member Özbir Akbaşak stated that a different perspective must be brought to health policies, noting that health cannot be handled solely through hospitals, medicines, and treatments. Akbaşak emphasized that the starting point of health is where the food coming to our tables is produced.

In line with this understanding, Akbaşak started visiting production sites and visited an exemplary livestock enterprise in Beyarmudu. During the visit, attention was drawn to antimicrobial resistance and the importance of safe food production.

The Danger of Antimicrobial Resistance

Akbaşak stated that antimicrobial resistance, which the World Health Organization combats on a global scale, is a serious public health issue that could make the treatment of many infections difficult in the future. It was stated that producers must be educated and provided with access to proper veterinary services.
