Turkish Agricultural Diplomacy Group Proposes Turkey-Based Mechanism for Black Sea Grain Trade

In response to increasing attacks on commercial vessels and ports, the Turkish Agricultural Diplomacy Group proposed the establishment of a new Turkey-based international mechanism to ensure the security of grain trade in the Black Sea.

Security Threats in the Black Sea and the New Proposal

The escalation of attacks targeting commercial ships, ports, and grain terminals endangers agricultural trade and the safety of civil navigation in the Black Sea.

In light of these developments, the Turkish Agricultural Diplomacy Group has demanded the implementation of a new international mechanism to protect commercial activities in the region.

Scope of the Mechanism and Key Headlines

The proposed new system includes the prevention of attacks on grain infrastructure, ensuring safe navigation for civil vessels, and international coordination based in Turkey.

Additionally, establishing a verifiable registry for vessels carrying food cargo is among the planned measures.

Insurance, Alternative Corridors, and Systems

Within the scope of the initiative, it is aimed to establish war risk insurance and a guarantee mechanism, as well as to increase the capacity of alternative corridors.

The activation of early warning and intervention systems is envisaged for the effective execution of all these processes.

Consisting of academics, bureaucrats, businesspeople, and exporters, TTDG continues its work together with industry representatives.

This voluntary community of seventy-four people carries out its activities entirely on a voluntary basis.
